Jason Brown and Jamal Brown have always loved food. They fell in love with the colors, the smells, the way it tastes and even the process of growing veggies in their own garden. They learned how to cook at a very young age. The two would compete to see which brother could make the best version of some of their favorite dishes.
People would always gather at their home to eat. The brothers would invite family and friends over to eat grilled burgers and sandwiches in the backyard. As they grew older, it became clear that people really loved the way they prepared food. A young child asked them one day for the name of their company. This inspired the brothers to gather some of their family recipes and open a business. The street address for Jason and Jamal’s childhood home in Bessemer included 1918. Since home is where their food journey first began, it made the perfect name for their new venture.
